The cross-party and non-partisan FRIEDENSBÜNDNIS NORDDEUTSCHLAND (Peace Alliance North Germany) meeting in Bremen on December 3, 2023, declares:
We value the peace commandment in our basic constitutional law (Grundgesetz) and are inspired by the long-term vision of a world free of nuclear weapons, in which the tenderness of nations, cooperation for the good of all has prevailed and peaceful, reason-oriented conflict resolution strategies have become the norm. WE ARE COMMITTED IN THIS COUNTRY TO
- Diplomacy in international relations to prevent wars and, in the event of war, for ceasefires and peace negotiations.
- civilian ports and the civilian maritime economy on the North and Baltic Seas - for arms conversion
- détente and cooperation for the benefit of all - instead of destructive armed or economic wars
- the Charter of the United Nations
- a European security architecture with ALL countries in Europe
- disarmament instead of rearmament, peace promotion instead of “war capability”
- the right to conscientious objection and recognition as grounds for political asylum in Germany
- an open space for debate in which controversial points of view can be fairly debated
- investment in education, health and the welfare state, for sustainable infrastructure and environmental protection

About 400 demonstrators took to the streets of Rostock on Sunday May 5th 2024 to denounce loading of military equipment via the city port as part of the NATO exercise 'Steadfast Defender 24'. The protesters marched with banners and flags as they gathered for a peaceful demonstration organized by "Friedensbündnis Norddeutschland" (Peace Alliance North Germany) You will find a video of the rally with some speakers and musicians here (german language).
