Sign the petition: Appoint a Truth Commission on the Palme Murder!

Forty years later, the murder remains unsolved — this is not worthy of a state governed by the rule of law.

Olof Palme: On February 28, 1986, Sweden's political leader fell victim to a brutal attack on an open street in central Stockholm. The murder of Prime Minister Olof Palme was a unique assault on our democracy. In a state governed by the rule of law like Sweden, everything should have been done to solve this crime.

It is unacceptable that today, forty years later, the murder remains unsolved, when not all possibilities have yet been explored to find an indisputable and definitive solution. 2020: The investigation was closed — a total failure. The "Skandia Man" was named without any concrete evidence.
Secrecy: Obstacles in the form of strict secrecy and confidentiality have blocked leads pointing to a more sensitive explanation.
We urge Sweden's government and parliament to appoint a strong Truth Commission. Such a failure, leaving lasting doubts about the willingness to turn over every stone, is not worthy of a state governed by law. https://palmemordet40.se/en/

Alastair Crooke is a former British diplomat and the Founder of "Conflicts Forum" based in Beirut. He was formerly an advisor on Middle East issues to Javier Solana, the EU Foreign Policy Chief. Crooke argues that Europe has get everything on the proxy war against Russia. Europe has sacrificed its legitimacy, economy, security and relations with Russia, China and the US. Europe has already entered a pre-revolutionary moment.

Ukraine’s leadership and some U.S. officials are making unrealistic, even delusional claims about how to end the war—specifically the idea that “the only path is Russia being compelled to retreat economically, politically, and militarily.” Analysts compare this to a badly beaten fighter demanding victory: detached from battlefield reality. They note that such maximalist demands are impossible for Ukraine to enforce, while Russia actually has the military power to shape outcomes. Continuing to insist on total Russian withdrawal, they warn, will only lead to more Ukrainian casualties. The discussion then shifts to the leaked 28-point U.S. peace plan. Several provisions are described as total non-starters for Moscow: Point 6: Limiting Ukraine’s armed forces to 600,000—far higher than Russia would ever accept for a neighboring state that has fought a proxy war on NATO’s behalf.

Alastair Crooke argues that Europe’s political and economic problems could be eased through normalized relations with Russia, but such views are suppressed across the continent. He cites Germany’s AfD—now highly popular, especially with younger voters—as an example of a party punished for advocating a pragmatic relationship with Russia and opposing current NATO policies. He claims dissident parties and leaders across Europe are targeted, banned, or smeared to maintain a rigid centrist “cordon sanitaire.” Germany’s economic decline is tied, in his view, to the loss of cheap Russian energy that once supported its industrial base. Across Europe, unemployment and economic instability are rising. In the UK, public anger has shifted rapidly—from Conservatives to Labour—and now general hostility is directed at the entire political class. Large protests have erupted over immigration and crime, fueled by scandals and distrust in the establishment. The public sees both major parties as a “uniparty” offering no solutions.
